When a project looks this good this far out from release, there’s not much more for us commentators to say–the game speaks for itself. In The Wild at Heart‘s case, the game looked “this good” more than a year ago. In the months since we spoke with studio Moonlight Kids, The Wild at Heart has been steadily groomed into a fantastic beast, one as compelling for its gameplay as for its surreal aesthetic. Moonlight Kids describes their upcoming title with the following:
“A mysterious hidden realm. Two precocious kids fleeing hardship. Magical creatures and an oddball order of guardians who have lost their way. A stygian evil imprisoned. Welcome to the Deep Woods.”
The Wild at Heart is much more than a bewitching storybook (although we’d read that book regardless). To successfully navigate the Deep Woods, you must craft supplies, do battle, and–above all else–fear the shadows. A trailer for The Wild at Heart dropped during gamescom 2020, along with a new release window: 2021 for Xbox and PC.
