It’s never to early to hype a title with as much promise as Moscow-based Sobaka Studio‘s indie 9 Monkeys of Shaolin, currently scheduled for an early winter 2019 release. 9 Monkeys of Shaolin proffers the story of Wei Cheng, a Chinese fisherman on a morbid and murderous mission to avenge the deaths of those he loves. Go on a violent and visually thrilling romp through medieval China as Wei Cheng struggles to master a martial art known and used primarily by Shaolin monks. Says 9 Monkeys of Shaolin‘s Steam page:
“9 Monkeys of Shaolin marks a true rebirth of the iconic beat ’em up genre in vein of old-school video games. 9 Monkeys of Shaolin features three different fighting styles and a narrative that guarantees you’ll be punching and tossing foes with intense satisfaction throughout. Rise with Wei Cheng as he conquers Shaolin martial arts and, subsequently, the foes he initially sets out to subdue. 9 Monkeys of Shaolin will launch on Steam, Xbox One, PS4, and Switch. We’ll have to wait until next winter to lay our hands on this gem, but we don’t mind in the slightest–as long as it does come, eventually.
