Hungry? No? Brace yourself. Featured in the recent Wholesome Games’s “Holiday Snack,” Venba is here to get your stomach–and your heart–begging for more. Toronto-based Visai Games adds spice to one family’s story by telling it through their cooking. Venba is summarized thus:
“Venba is a narrative cooking game, where you play as an Indian mom, who immigrates to Canada with her family in the 1980s. Players will cook various dishes and restore lost recipes, hold branching conversations and explore in this story about family, love, loss and more.”
You’re the head chef (also known as “mom”) of an Indian household, and you’ve lost your recipe book on the move to Canada. Piece together your missing instructions and navigate the complex emotions of a family dealing with…well, life. Authentic dishes, music, and soul–Venba promises a lot, but there’s plenty of time for Visai Games to deliver. Venba is currently slated for a PC-only release sometime in winter 2021.
