Garlic, the 1-bit platformer by France-based Sylph, employs a terrifically honest plot. Is the world about to end? Mankind about to expire? The universe slated to implode? Nah. The main character has the hots for the Cyber Goddess, and his goal is to climb the tower in order to meet her and win her over. Garlic is summarized thus:
“You are Garlic, an onion-headed boy and you want to climb the Sacred Tower to meet the Cyber Goddess to seduce her…”
Enemies and traps may hinder your efforts, but studio Sylph promises a wealth of checkpoints to keep you from throwing your controller at the screen. Wielding irreverent humor, exaggerated animations, and casual platforming, Garlic is a pungent reminder that not every game needs to take its own ingredients too seriously. Garlic launches for PC on December 30.
