On May 6, Belgium-based Happy Volcano made the world just a little more bearable with their release-date announcement for The Almost Gone. Already a favorite in the Belgian indie scene, The Almost Gone has been collecting awards for its poignant storytelling and stripped aesthetic since 2016. Come June 25, the door opens on the dioramas The Almost Gone has teased us with for so long. Happy Volcano describes their puzzler thus:
“Experience the intricate dioramas and connections of your life, and the ripples we all make, in this award-winning narrative puzzle game about death, loss, and mental health.”
That’s a lot to stuff into a minute package, but The Almost Gone is no stranger to making the most of small scenes. Richly atmospheric and easy on the eyes, this narrative journey promises a thoughtful and welcome escape from reality. The Almost Gone releases on June 25 for PC, mobile, and Switch.
