A simple pixel does not mean a safe pixel. The stripped-down aesthetic of Baseline Games’s Nira belies the complexity and danger bubbling below its quirky, procedurally generated surface. One-man studio Baseline Games has been working on Nira since 2017, and on April 24, gamers were granted the chance to get in ahead of the full launch with the release of Nira in Early Access. Nira is described with the following:
“Nira is a fast-paced survival exploration game. Explore endless procedurally generated worlds and gather resources to survive. Build a base and a farm, go fishing, cook yourself a meal, ride an alpaca or fly a plane; do whatever you want. But beware, when night falls, creatures arise…”
That’s a lot of freedom. The world is your oyster in Nira, but mind that the oyster doesn’t snap down around you and plunge you into darkness forever. Grow crops, craft goodies, and slay goblins in its magnetic universe. Should you find the perils too much to bear alone, up to four players can tackle Nira‘s treacherous turf together in local co-op. Nira is out now in Early Access for PC, and is slated for a full launch sometime this year.
