Thanks to a new pilot program called “The Game Festival” from The Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley, 13 demos for unreleased games are available to play from 10 a.m. PT December 12 through 10 a.m. PT December 14 on Steam. That’s barely enough time to wet any gamer’s whistle, but when the line-up includes upcoming all-star indies like Greg Lobanov’s Chicory: A Colorful Tale and Pixpil’s Eastward, we’ll shut up and appreciate the precious hours we’re being given at all.
The demos will be available on Steam as a free download, but they won’t be playable after the Saturday deadline. The demos are open for the following titles: Acid Knife, CARRION, Chicory: A Colorful Tale, Eastward, Haven, Heavenly Bodies, Moving Out, Röki, SkateBIRD, Spiritfarer, System Shock, The Drifter, and Wooden Nickel.
As the majority of these titles have tentative 2020 release dates planned, this will be many players’ first and last hands-on experience with these games for what is likely a long time to come. Cleared your Friday evening yet? We did.
