On December 8, Tokyo-based studio Friend & Foe announced the release date for their upcoming Vane. Freshly after the holiday season concludes on January 15, Vane will enjoy its first proper flight for public eyes. Currently the title is only slated for a PS4 launch, but as that leaves quite a few systems in the lurch, it wouldn’t be too shocking to see it migrate elsewhere post-release. Vane describes itself with the following:
“Distinctive, gorgeous, and set to an original, brooding synth soundtrack, Vane is an enigmatic and unnerving game that aims to leave an impact. The team at Friend & Foe Games, using experience spanning titles like the Last Guardian and Killzone, made Vane with the conviction that players should find their own path in the world, and and explore just to the point of getting lost – and the result is a unique, unforgettable memory.”
Vane swathes players in an atmosphere swollen with melancholy and mystery as they traverse a landscape foreign and unwelcoming. It’s a first-person and solo-player experience suitable for the backdrop of January’s barren and icy gaze.
