On November 7, the gaming community collectively drew a breath of delight and surprise. Why? Because Nomada Studio at last announced the finalized release date for upcoming GRIS, the evocatively artistic indie we’ve all been closely following. Just in time to paint swathes of color back into our winter-faded lives, GRIS will release on December 13 for both Steam and Switch. Says Nomada Studio’s website:
“Published by Devolver Digital, GRIS is an experience free of danger, frustration or death. Players will explore a meticulous designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score. Through the game light puzzles, platforming sequences, and optional skill-based challenges will reveal themselves as more of Gris’s world becomes accessible.”
GRIS is Barcelona-based Nomada Studios’s first entry, and was demoed at PAX West in Seattle earlier this year. It shocked and gripped players when it was initially announced, and continues to do so as we all dance impatiently for December 13 to roll around. Enjoying the Devolver Digital stamp of approval, GRIS is certain to be a landmark indie for 2018 — at the very least, for its stunning art alone.
