On February 24, Thunder Lotus Games broke a bottle over the bow of their first gameplay trailer for upcoming Spiritfarer. The winsome management sim has been hooking fans across the seas, and this latest installment in teasers is the biggest bait yet. Montréal-based Thunder Lotus Games describes Spiritfarer with the following:
“Spiritfarer is a cozy management game about dying. As ferrymaster to the deceased, build a boat to explore the world, care for your spirit friends, and guide them across mystical seas to finally release them into the afterlife. What will you leave behind?”
Sometimes you don’t want your game to punish you. Sometimes you need it to illuminate your living room with a warm, friendly glow–to comfort you when life might otherwise feel cold. Spiritfarer‘s compassionate storytelling and whimsical aesthetic hint at an experience that will linger like the unexpected squeeze of a much-needed hug. Spiritfarer will release on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Switch sometime this year.
