Did you know there was a second installment in the To the Moon series? If you didn’t, and if you were one of the countless enamored fans of the first, it might be overwhelming to hear you’re actually two games behind. Kan Gao of Freebird Games didn’t stop with his heart-wrenchingly lovely To the Moon in 2011–he went on to craft Finding Paradise, out in 2017, and now Impostor Factory, the third episode, out soon…ish. Impostor Factory is described with the following:
“A bonkers time-loop tragicomedy murder mystery thriller featuring multiple casualties and a suspicious cat, from the creator of To the Moon.”
All three episodes follow Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts as they strive to reassemble people’s lives by reshaping their memories from the inside. A person on their deathbed could have their wildest wish granted by the doctors, whose job it is to reconstruct memories and make the impossible the new real. Each episode is a standalone story, so if you haven’t already dipped your toes into this starry universe, you don’t have to worry about starting from the beginning. Furthermore, Impostor Factory promises something radically different from its more serious and melancholy predecessors: absurdity. Impostor Factory is slated for a PC release sometime at the end of this year. If you can’t wait that long to dive in, A Bird Story proffers a separate episode within the same universe, simply minus our beloved doctors.
