Romantic presents on Valentine’s Day are all well and good, but a surprise announcement from Team Cherry about a Hollow Knight sequel? Hands down, a gift like that takes the cake– and everything else with it. On February 14, Team Cherry released the unexpected Kraken of news bombs: a whole new Hollow Knight world is coming in the form of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Originally planned as a DLC, the three-person, Australia-based studio chose to instead expand Silksong‘s new lands into a full-fledged sequel, described with the following:
“Discover a vast, haunted kingdom in Hollow Knight: Silksong! The sequel to the award winning action-adventure. Explore, fight and survive as you ascend to the peak of a land ruled by silk and song.”
Play as Hornet, a character from Hollow Knight, as she’s snatched from her home and thrust into treacherous and unfamiliar territory. New, acrobatic abilities await, and everything that made Hollow Knight so achingly good appears present in this superb sequel. Hollow Knight: Silksong is planned for a Steam and Switch release at launch, the date of which has yet to be breathed. Happy Valentine’s Day, Team Cherry. That’s one heck of a gift.
