Metroidvania Monster-Nabbing Coming in Retro Monster Sanctuary

Freshly Kickstarted and beaming brightly out from behind its own Steam page, charming Monster Sanctuary is a delightful monster mash-up featuring pixel art and turn-based combat. Play as a Monster Keeper and collect monsters you encounter as you journey through a world stricken with a mystery that threatens the previous reign of peace. Monster Sanctuary is being developed by studio Mo Rai Games, a one-man band based in Germany. Says Monster Sanctuary of itself:

“Monster Sanctuary is a monster-taming RPG with party-based combat and metroidvania-like exploration. New monsters provide additional strategic options in combat and allow you to overcome obstacles to explore new areas and find hidden treasures. The turn-based combat focuses on team synergy and combos, distinguishing Monster Sanctuary from other popular monster collecting games.”

Because of a Stretch Goal that was met, Monster Sanctuary is now slated for both a PC and a Switch release. A demo is currently available through Steam for free, allowing you to…catch…the monster fever early. There’s no release date as of yet, and although 2020 is listed on the press kit, but we’re looking hopefully towards a 2019 launch for this delectably retro monster collector.
